用來表示與主要子句「不相稱且已存在」的事實，又稱為「讓步」。
句型：
S ＋ V ／ be 動詞＋ ... though／although S ＋ V ／ be 動詞...
= Though／Although S ＋ V ／ be 動詞..., S ＋ V ／ be 動詞...如：
Though David is not very handsome, he is very popular with girls.
= David is very popular with girls though he is not very handsome.
（雖然 David 不是很帥，他卻很受到女孩們的歡迎。）
though ／ although 只能跟 but 代換，卻不可出現在同一句中，如：
Though Jenny doesn’t do really well on tests, her teachers still like her a lot.
（雖然 Jenny 考得不是很好，她的老師們還是很喜歡她。）
= Jenny doesn’t do really well on tests, but her teachers still like her a lot.
（Jenny 考得不是很好，但是她的老師們還是很喜歡她。
